Five for Friday

The Australian Writers Centre runs an annual competition to find Australia's best blogs. See the 25 finalists on the AWC website, and vote for a winner!

Are we all enjoying watching the world gear-up for The Great Gatsby? Again? The fashion world is of course swinging in 20's revival. Brooks Brothers, along with Prada have released a Gatsby-inspired collection. Brooks were responsible for the mens' costuming and I for one and not ashamed to admit that I would melt for a man in this tailoring.

I kind of want to do this 5 minute DIY, thanks to Frankie Magazine.

My new favourite tumblr: Des Hommes et des Chatons

I was going to wait and put this in Five for Friday but I can't wait that long to share!

Des Hommes et des Chatons.

As you can see, too many good images to choose from, so I went a little crazy.

Yes, I am going to turn in to a scary old cat lady. And I'm ok with that.

Five for Friday

I'm sure you've all heard of this instagram feed, but you must take a look. A Russian guy who loves to travel has met his perfect travel companion / girlfriend and snapped photos of her around the globe, pulling him by the hand to new and wonderful places. You do not need an instagram account to look at this. Murad Osmann's instagram feed.

Everyday People Cartoons; Cartoons about women, and the people who love and annoy them.

One high-flying woman's perspective on work/life balance.

50 best photos from fashion month.

One of my good friends (who blogs here) is putting together a team for the Gold Coast Colour Run 'The Happiest Run in the World'. It's a fun day out in support of being fit, healthy and happy and also supporting The Ponting Foundation.

Five for Friday

First big announcement, one of my favourite people has made a return to blogging! Another Brisbane local girl, she and her own blog partner talk about 20-something life, bars, beauty, fashion and fun on Adventures In Colour.

Do we need a new punctuation mark?

It's not often that I genuinely lust after an H&M collection, though I do desperately wish we had the chain here in Australia, but this collection, I WANT!

I adore discovering new, accessible food blogs and here is Tales of a Truffle Pig. Sure, the writer is based out of Sydney but she posts about food and eating all over the country and even from Brisbane, I can enjoy her opinions on beer and recipes for zucchini and bacon slice!

Jennifer Lawrence is tied with Emma Stone and Meryl Streep as the person I want most to play me in a movie about my life. So this week I was thrilled to not only discover a new sarcastic gifs tumblr, but one that went nuts with Jennifer Lawrence gifs post-oscars. She's known for being rad in interviews, so there is an internet-library of potential material.

Andrew Davies, the man who adapted the beloved 1996 BBC production of Pride and Prejudice is adapting War and Peace. Any other classic adaptation nerds out there excited by this one?

New bar opening on Caxton Street. For those of us who like to be a little bit classy pre-game.

Vintage couples in love. Not sure I will ever get a couple-photo charming enough to be found in a list like this.

And some website hilarity for my friend Sarah - You had one job to do.

The Beer Chase

Carlton Draught make brilliant ads. Or rather, they commission brilliant ads.

How could anyone forget the genius of The Big Ad? Or the quieter but still great Slow Motion Ad?

Here is the latest: The Beer Chase. Hilarious, brilliant. Almost makes me want to drink Carlton.

Flight of the Conchords: Feel Inside (And Stuff Like That)

This is going to Make your Tuesday.

The boys from Flight of the Conchords have released a new song Feel Inside (And Stuff Like That) and it's fantastic. They enlisted a bunch of children to help them write the lyrics. They asked the kids questions about feeling sick and where money comes from and their answers make up the rhymes. The boys then enlisting professional musicians to sing and produce the song.

All proceeds go to New Zealand charity Cure Kids.

Check out the video - the first part is the interviews with the kids, followed by the song.

One does not simply... (B's reponse)

Yes, I could have written a review of the show I went to on Friday night (it was brilliant, by the way, in case I never get around to it).

Instead I decided to post a reponse to Jane.

A novel approach to font

Llama Font - say it in llama. You can type in whatever you want and it will be 'translated' into llama.

So here is our blog title.

This font reminds me of years past when my friends and I played trivia every Monday night and our standard team name was 'The Imperial Llamas'.

Rowan Atkinson, 'The Conductor'

When you work with musicians, this is what goes around the office on a Friday afternoon. Rowan Atkinson is always hilarious, but for some reason, knowing a conductor makes this even funnier, I think.

Enjoy.

2011 in review: the 30 most important cats

Don't get me wrong, I like dogs. Dogs are nice and warm and friendly and just want you to love them and play with them for ever and ever. Cats, on the other hand are selfish and manipulative and don't give a damn what you think. Which is what makes them so much more interesting and funny. The internet is awash with examples of just how much funnier cats are than dogs. With the exception of this video.

So here, courtesy of my friend Rach, are the 30 most important cats of 2011. So very funny, I might have started crying after watching number 5: video-ruining cat.

I want a cat.

Moustache puns

Moustache puns are the best of puns.

This is the one I found today, inspiring this blog:

I don't mind admitting it took me a moment to get it, but it was most amusing when I finally did. I wish I could expand on the topic and start a bit of an internet search for the world's best moustache pun but unfortunately, earlier this week I found it.
